"Michael
Rosewell's conducting of a responsive orchestra was thrillingly gutsy
and edgy."Rupert

Mozart’s
famous
dramma giocoso – one of the darkest comedies ever written
– is the story of the
last 24 hours in the life of Don Juan. On this day in Seville
at least 2 seductions go terribly
wrong, one resulting in murder of a general, and the second in the most
terrible
party imaginable. A traumatised noblewoman, a truculent lady and a
feisty
peasant girl join forces to try to change the great seducer, but in the
end it
takes supernatural intervention to stop him.
From the
first, fatal notes of the overture to the shocking final scene, Don
Giovanni is
one of the greatest operas ever written. In ETO’s new
production by Jonathan
Munby and Soutra Gilmour, Roland Wood (ETO’s Eugene Onegin)
and Jonathan
Gunthorpe play the rake and his long suffering servant, leading a cast
of
distinguished soloists. ETO Associate Conductor Michael Rosewell
conducts the
ETO Orchestra and Chorus.
